“On Being Light in Darkness!”

Matthew 5:14-16
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be
hidden. “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, that it gives light to all who are in the house.”
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good
works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
All those who have been born of God from above have changed
from a life of darkness unto a life of light. Speaking of those who are saved Jesus said, “You are the light of the world.” Paul writes to the believers in Ephesus contrasting the life of darkness and light.
Ephesians 5:8-14
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes
manifest is light. Therefore, He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”
We were once blind and dead in our trespasses and sin. Satan
had blinded our eyes as he has blinded the eyes of most of the
world, but now we see through the Spirit of the living God those
things of the Light. Let us walk in the Spirit so that the light of the
world, Jesus Christ, can shine through us. Let the unfruitful works
of darkness be exposed by our light so it will be made known what
is good and what is evil and so all may know that you are in the
Light. After all, “You tell a tree by the fruit it bears. If the tree is
good, then the fruit is good. If the tree bad, then the fruit is bad.”
Men can tell the kind of trees we are by the fruit we bear!! They
know if we are “darkness” or “light.” Let us find out from the Word
of God what is acceptable to God and then live in the Light of God.
