“Forgiving Others”
Matthew 18: 21-35 (Focus v. 35)
In the text above Jesus speaks of a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. One of his servants owed him ten thousand talents (60,000,000 denarii). When required the servant could not repay the debt, but he begged for mercy. The king had mercy upon that servant and forgave him all his debt. Then, this servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him only 100 denarii. He demanded payment. When the second servant asked for mercy the first servant refused him and demanded that he, his wife, family and all that he had be sold and he imprisoned until the debt was paid. The king, having heard what the second servant had done, called him back and required that he pay all his debt in full, which he could not pay. The king delivered him to the torturers until he paid all.
God will not forgive us unless we forgive others even as Christ forgave us. Listen: “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”
Who do you need to forgive?
