The Precious Blood of Christ!

The Bible reveals to us all that we have a very serious problem. That very serious problem is sin! Sin has separated us from God, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23). Jeremiah the prophet said, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) Isaiah the prophet said, “But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6a). Now, if all these things are true about us, and they are true, then how can we be saved and enter heaven? How can sinful man be clean in the site of Holy God? How can sinful man be reconciled to Holy God?

The children of Israel thought they might be able to do good and be good enough to enter heaven. Paul said of them, “For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they, being ignorant of God’s righteousness and seeking to establish their own righteousness have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” (Romans 10:3-4). All the human goodness and all human works are never able to forgive sin or give eternal life. Human goodness is one of man’s greatest sins.

Simon Peter knew that living by the religious traditions received from the Jewish fathers could not save. He said, “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish without spot.” (1 Peter 1:18-19). Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world. It is His precious blood that was poured out at Calvary that saves. His blood is totally and completely sufficient to take away our sins. Nothing else can make us holy enough to go to heaven. “Without holiness no one will see God.” (Hebrews 12:14). Only the precious blood of Christ can make us holy to go to heaven, to see God.

What are you depending upon to go to heaven? Are you depending on your goodness, your works, or your religion? Are you depending fully and completely upon the Precious Blood of Christ?
